After 15 months of horrific bombardment in the Gaza Strip, a ceasefire agreement was finally reached in the last days of the Biden Administration and with the involvement of officials from the incoming Trump Administration. The deal, brokered by US, Qatari, and Egyptian mediators, will be implemented in phases beginning with a temporary ceasefire and the exchange of some Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, and later proceed to talks regarding a broader end to the war.
